Drinking is healthy – and also important for other reasons. If you do not consume enough fluids, you have to expect all kinds of physical and mental problems: loss of
concentration, problems with digestion and bowel movements, headaches, and even back pain are consequences of insufficient fluid intake.
The intervertebral discs consist of 80% fluid.
During the day, this proportion decreases slightly. During the night, when the back is in a horizontal position, the intervertebral discs fill with fluid again.
Interestingly, relevant specialist studies have found that sufficient fluid intake during the day has a positive effect on the fluid content of the intervertebral discs, especially in connection with movement.
For a long time, it was assumed that we had to consume at least two liters of water per day.
However, recent studies show that this rule is only partially correct. Drink when you are thirsty, they say today. And yet it can be useful to know that it is generally better to drink too much than too little.
Place a glass on your desk every morning and fill it with water. Supplement this with a water bottle that you have within reach to refill.
You will see: the glass of water on your desk encourages you to drink! With the small habit created in this way, you are doing your body a great service.
And your fluid balance stays on track.
