Aching wrists, neck pain, and tense shoulders: All of these complaints can be consequences of the way you handle your keyboard and mouse at work. Some people even get tendinitis as a result of the exact same movements they perform when handling the mouse or keyboard.
A good and relaxed posture is therefore of very special importance.
-
Do not place the keyboard too far away from you. Bring the keyboard a little closer to you so that you adopt a natural and relaxed posture with your arms and shoulders when working on it.
-
Your wrists should rest relaxed on the tabletop. Therefore, use a keyboard that is not too high. And make sure that your wrists are not bent upwards when working. If necessary, use a wrist cushion so that your wrists can relax completely.
-
Even when working with the mouse, your wrists must not be bent upwards. Again, it can be very helpful to use a wrist cushion while handling the mouse.
If the pain in the joint of the hand you use to operate the mouse does not decrease, I advise you to get a vertical mouse. Working with this leads to a natural posture and movement of the wrist and forearm. This results in subtle changes in posture, which have already helped quickly in many cases.
You can make a wrist cushion yourself: arrange a small towel so that it rests comfortably under your wrists. If you need the wrist cushion to operate the mouse better, it is best to use a washcloth. Folded, it offers you optimal support.
There are also some proven solutions. Make sure that the wrist cushion is not too hard.
